Tame Your Lizard Brain – Villa Confidence Boot Camp

Day 3 – Tame Your Lizard Brain – Villa Confidence Boot Camp

You know “that” voice. The one that whispers in the back of your mind, saying, “What makes you think you can do that? You’re not fast/smart/good enough!” It’s the Lizard Brain – the primordial part of our brains that is responsible for all the negativity and sourness, the feeling that we’ll just never measure up. Merrilee and co-creator Carol Storey are here to gleefully debunk the Lizard Brain and teach you how to put that cranky little part back where it belongs, which is where it can’t sneer any more nasty little bits to you.

Are you ready? Here’s Day 3 of the Villa Confidence Boot Camp. By Day 30? You will be unstoppable.

BTW: if you missed Day 1 and Day 2 of the Villa Confidence Boot Camp, find them here and here.

Are you ready for more? More in your career? In your life? Here’s the place: Chocolate Villa’s executive women’s retreat, March 8-12 in gorgeous Heber Valley in Utah’s prettiest mountain range. This is four days that transforms you. I speak from experience. The fall retreat gave me a clarity of purpose that I’d been struggling for – something I couldn’t seem to put together myself. And I came away with friends I’ll treasure for life. Living the Villa means that you’re still supported after the retreat ends. There’s friends, follow-ups with the entire group, and the knowledge that you’re not on your own. Learn more about the retreat here, and I have some advice about how to request that your company pay for your participation here.

Day 8: Live Above the Line | The Villa Confidence Boot Camp

Day 8: Live Above the Line

Today’s bite-sized tip from the Confidence Boot Camp is one of my favorites – I learned about “Living Above the Line” at the Chocolate Villa retreat I attended last fall. Simply put, this teaches you how to keep yourself from descending into gloom and all the negative emotions that insist on accompanying it. Merrilee uses some really clear, concise information to explain how this impacts you – but I’ve really, really seen its impact in my own life and how I deal with others. Have a look. Be inspired!

Day 6: Take Good Care of Your Body | The Villa Confidence Boot Camp

Day 6: Take Good Care of Your Body | The Villa Confidence Boot Camp.

I was talking with one of my favorite people tonight at my daughter’s Aikido class, and while we watched our kiddos pummel each other, I asked how she was feeling.

“Well, I held it together until school let out for winter break,” she confessed ruefully, “then I fell apart.” So my dear friend spent the holidays in bed, Christmas dinner was chicken soup.

But how many times have we done this? Held it all together for everyone else, and then when our poor bodies had a full thirty seconds to relax, it all falls apart? That’s why today’s mantra is all about taking care of your body. Exhausted, poorly-nourished and under-exercised is a recipe for … well … your only free time spent in bed, or worse, missing out on crucial things because your body has just had enough.

Have a look. Be inspired. Have you missed any of the other days for the 30 Day Confidence Boot Camp? Find them here. These are small, bite-sized chunks of wisdom designed to help you make small, achievable progress every day toward a more confident you.

Day 5 – Step into the Mystery – Villa Confidence Boot Camp

Day 5 – Step into the Mystery – Villa Confidence Boot Camp.

Today’s confidence inspiration is from Lisa Condie, author, and international entrepreneur. We’ve all heard stories of people who take a leap of faith and reinvent their lives almost overnight. They sell all their possessions, say goodbye to family and friends, and move to a new place to start a new life. We watch with awe and sometimes envy, marveling at their willingness to throw caution to the wind and follow their bliss. But we don’t always hear how the adventure turns out.

If you’ve missed any of the first four days of Villa Confidence Boot Camp, you can find them here.

Day 2: The Power Pose – Villa Confidence Boot Camp

I have no shame. I’ve hidden in bathrooms, corners of parking lots and once a broom closet, but I do the Power Pose before I meet a big client. The first time you do this, you might feel vaguely silly, but boy howdy, it makes you feel invincible.

This is Day Two of the Villa Confidence Boot Camp, a month’s worth of small, manageable concepts that will guide you into a feeling of fearlessness and a solid belief in yourself.  Today’s tip is one of my favorites because it’s something I still do almost every day after learning it at the retreat last September. The next Chocolate Villa executive women’s retreat is March 8-12th, and it’ll give you the tools to move forward in your career. But what surprised me is that the retreat changed more than my career, it changed my focus, it made me think about what was really important to me. Merrilee’s teachings made me stand back from the day-to-day “Gotta do this, gotta do this” trap I was in and really find the clarity to understand what my next steps should be.

Are you ready for this kind of clarity? Information about March’s retreat is here.
